For Wood Lovell, the Highlands, North Carolina area has always been an important part of his life, spending summers with his family since the 1960s escaping the hot Atlanta summers. Wood introduced Jody to the area in 1996, and the rest is history.
They bought a mountain home in one of the area’s private clubs and spent as much time as they could there. After retiring early from successful careers in 2000, Highlands became their full time home, a love affair that continues to this day.
Jody and Wood moved to Highlands in 2000 and started Cullasaja Realty with one location at the gate of Cullasaja Club of Highlands. After being awarded the prestigious Sotheby’s International Realty franchise in 2008, they opened a second location in downtown Highlands across from The Old Edwards Inn and Spa which was voted the Number One Hotel Spa in the United States by Conde Nast
In 2016, Wood and Jody further expanded the Sotheby’s brand by opening a third office in Cashiers, North Carolina. This new office, prominently located in the commercial district of Cashiers, is reflective of the upward trajectory of the luxury real estate market on the Highlands-Cashiers plateau.
Jody and Wood are members of Cullasaja Club of Highlands, Capital City Club in Atlanta, Frederica Golf and Lake Club on St. Simons Island and Brunswick Country Club in South Georgia. Despite these options available to them, Highlands, North Carolina remains their favorite place in the world.
